Get Your Ford Radio Code
Use the form below to request your Ford radio code. It is free: our team looks up each code by hand and emails it to you, so it is not shown on screen. We cannot find every serial, and we will tell you by email if we cannot find yours.
What you will need
- The serial number of the radio fitted to the car (a letter such as M or V and six digits). On many 6000 CD and Sony radios, hold buttons 1 and 6 to show it; otherwise read the label after removing the radio.
- Your Ford model and year.
- An email address to send the code to.
We do not look codes up by registration number or VIN. Need help finding the serial? See the serial number guide, or open a model page such as Fiesta, Focus or Transit.

How you receive your code
After you send the request, our team looks up your code and emails it to the address you gave us. Please check your spam folder if you do not see it. Nothing is charged at any point, and we will never ask for card details.
How to enter it
- Switch the ignition and the radio on. The display shows CODE, ENTER CODE or ENTER KEYCODE.
- On a typical 6000 CD or similar radio, press preset 1 until the first digit is right, then preset 2 for the second digit, 3 for the third and 4 for the fourth.
- Check all four digits, then press and hold button 5 for a couple of seconds to confirm. The radio should start playing.
Radios with a keypad or touchscreen, such as Travelpilot, use their own entry method instead. If your handbook describes a different method for your radio, follow the handbook.
Radios that say WAIT or LOCKED are covered on the homepage. Newer Fords with SYNC normally need no code.

Is the Ford radio code really free?
Yes. We do not charge for looking up your code and we never ask for card details. Our team looks each code up by hand and emails it to you, so it does not appear on screen. We cannot promise that every serial number can be found; if we cannot find yours, we will tell you by email.
Where do I find my Ford radio serial number?
On many 6000 CD and Sony radios you can show it on the display: switch the radio on and hold buttons 1 and 6 together. On some 4500 RDS units it is buttons 2 and 6. If nothing appears, remove the radio with Ford release keys and read the label on the case. It usually starts with M or V followed by six digits.
Can I get my radio code from my registration number or VIN?
No. We do not look codes up by registration number or VIN. The code belongs to the radio unit, and a radio may have been replaced during the car's life, so we need the serial number printed on the radio that is in the car now.
My serial does not start with M or V. Can you still help?
Possibly. Some units carry serials starting with L, C, Z, A, BP or C7, or a longer Sony or Travelpilot string. Choose the closest option in the form and type the serial exactly as printed, including every letter and zero. We will tell you by email if we cannot find a code.
